Calgary's best player was Justin Schultz.

As much as I agree with you about the lack of class. The fact is the oilers traded a player that would never play for the Oilers for a guy who might play. If anything else this should be a wakeup call for the team.

& the rest of the league will be celebrating that the Oilers will be surrounding their superstar players with guys like this instead of players that can actually play hockey.

After what happened in Calgary yesterday, with Bennett pushing us around, I find myself wanting more grit. I know what Kassian did in the past. I know that he is a poopty person, but if he makes us harder to play against and helps the team (maybe he won't) start winning games then yes I will forgive the past. The past is the past and he has a long road in Bakersfield before he comes up.

Another thing is that after that last game, I realized just how much I want our defense not to suck anymore. I know we have injuries, but man do I want better defense and I want it now. Jultz, Nikita and Fayne need to be gone as soon as possible.

you'd think a numbers guy like yourself would think Kassian could help. look at his goal rates, shooting at 14% through 200 games.

Guy can play and play dirty. I wouldn't have hated him so much if he didn't back it up.

this trade starts at net neutral and could be a nice win. if it pushes Gazdic out of the lineup and he scores 12 ES goals in a season, do you take this down?

But I will cheer for him the very second he takes hard someone into the boards so that they don't take free runs at our kids.
I prefer him here than to play against him.

Oilers trade Zack Kassian to the Islanders in a deal that brings Hamonic to Edmonton when the Islanders play there on Feb. 28th.

Unfortunately kassian gets coke rage on the ice and looses his mind and intentionally hurts another player. Possibly someone's career? The guy is a meathead and hopefully this never happens!!!! I understand what the oil are doing giving a young man one last chance. Hopefully if he does have some success and seems to be turning it around that he doesn't revert back to the old ways and disease a young impressionable AHL team.BIG risk good luck

Nice article.........love that someone has a strong opinion and didn't pull any punches. I also agree with the content. I'm sure there will be times in the future when Oiler fans cheer a hit or fight to protect their youth, but eventually that dog will maul someone in a classless move. I completely agree with protecting your stars, but not at any price.

Kassian is certainly a DBag but Raffi Torres is/was by far the biggest scumbag in the NHL. And Matt Cooke was right up there with him.
